| Results of poor nutrition

Most of us may think that we eat nutritious,
balanced meals, but few actually
get the recommended five daily portions of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Western diets are increasingly refined, and include high quantities
of fried
and browned foods. Due to over-farming, chemical farming, processing
and refining, the nutrient content of much of our food is questionable.
Alcohol, many antibiotics, medication and drugs also diminish our
body's
immune system and its ability to combat
free radicals.
Our environment is also becoming more toxic. Smoking, sunburn, pollution,
pesticides, toxic chemicals and radiation means we are being bombarded
by excessive free radicals which our bodies are less capable of fighting.
More and more studies are linking low intakes of dietary antioxidants
to an increased risk of heart disease, while medical experts are making
equally strong statements about the relationship between nutrition
and general disease.
While an optimal balanced diet is ideal, high
quality antioxidant supplements offer the "outside help"
that our bodies increasingly require.
